ワンピース One Piece

ゲームに引き続き、良く周りにびっくりされるのが、私は大の漫画好きであること。海外で育った私の日本語力を心配して親がリボン等の月間漫画を定期購読したのがきっかけでした。親としてはできればもっと小説を読んで欲しかったみたいですが、日本そして日本語に興味を持ってくれるなら漫画でもいいかと思ったくれたようです。

さて、少女マンガより私はアドベンチャーたっぷりのNARUTO、HUNTER×HUNTER、BLEACH等の少年漫画の方が好きですが、その中でもここ数年、愛読漫画はワンピース！ワンピースは累計２億３千万部を突破している尾田栄一郎の大ヒット漫画。海賊についての漫画ですが、絵のタッチが温かくて、ストーリが良く出来ている。また子供、大人に夢を与えつつ、世界の問題を考えさせる力があります。ワンピースでは人種差別、宗教問題、貧困、戦争、政治問題について取り上げ、子供たちにも分かるように説明してあります。新刊では人種差別に対する問題が描かれていて、大人である私はボロボロ泣きながら読みました。人によっては漫画はくだらない物かもしれませんが、私は漫画によっては子供たちに良い影響を与える物であると思っています。

Continuing from games, people are also surprised that I am a big fan of manga. It started with my parents worrying about my Japanese as I grew up overseas and so they subscribed to a monthly manga such as Ribbon. My parents wanted me to read more novels but they thought manga will do if that will interest me in Japan and Japanese.

I prefer manga for boys than manga for girls, like NARUTO, HUNTER×HUNTER, BLEACH, etc with a lot of adventures and within that category, my favorite is One Piece! One Piece is Oda Eiichiro's huge hit manga, selling over 230 million copies. One Piece is about pirates, which drawings are warm and story is well written. It gives both children and adults dreams and also makes them think about world problems. In the manga, there are racial, religious, poverty, war, and political problems which are explained simply so that even children can understand. The author wrote about racism in his newest edition and even myself, a grown adult was balling like a baby when reading. Some people may think that manga is garbage but I think that some manga can be a good influence on children.

パリ・プラ―ジュ Paris Plage

昨日の続きですが、ピックニック後はセーヌ川に向かい（チュイルリー公園からすぐ）、石畳の上を激しく揺れるベビーカ―を押しながら着いたのは、パリ・プラ―ジュ！パリ・プラ―ジュとはバカンスに出かけられない人のために作られた人口ビーチです。砂が敷かれ、パラソルやヤシの木が立ち、そして売店もあります。セーヌ川でもちろん泳ぐことはできないので、人はただビーチ気分を味わうだけ。だけど、毎年多くのフランス人と観光客が遊びに行きます。街のど真ん中とは思えない水着で皆、砂浜の上で寝そべり、日焼けをします。ちなみに以前はトップレスになっていた人もいたようですが、今では罰金になるみたいです。

私はやっぱり砂浜で寝そべった後は思いっきり海で泳ぎたいのでパリ・プラ―ジュじゃ物足りないですが、見る分にはなかなか面白かったです。

After the picnic yesterday, we walked toward the Seine (close to Tuileries Garden). After pushing the baby stroller which shook crazily on the cobble stone, we arrived to Paris Plage! Paris Plage is an artificial beach made for those who can't go away for vacation. Sand is packed, parasols and coconut trees are placed, and there are even little stores around. You can't swim in the Seine so people just enjoy the feeling of being on a beach. But still many French and tourists come to enjoy. People lay on the beach with their swimming suits and sun bathe making you wonder if this is really the center of the city. By the way, apparently there used to be top less women before but now it's prohibited and fined.

Personally I want to go swim in the sea after laying on the sand so Paris Plage is not enough for me, but it is quite interesting to watch.

 

ピックニック Picnic

今日は仲良しのＮちゃんとその娘さんと近所のチュルリー公園でピックニックしました。Ｎちゃんは私と同じ時期に（一週間ぐらいの差）パリに引っ越し、彼女もフランス人と結婚したので良くビザや国際カップルについて相談させてもらっています。

さて、チュイルリー公園はコンコルド広場（ルイ１６世とマリー・アントワネットが死刑された場所）とルーブル美術館の間にある大きい公園です。パリの公園では芝生の上で座れる所が少ないので、私にとってパレ・ロワイヤル近くにある芝生が貴重スポットです。ピックニックしながらパレ・ロワイヤルの壮大さを楽しむ。なんて贅沢でしょう！Ｎちゃんはおにぎりを作ってくれて、ワインと共に頂き、楽しい時間を過ごしました（＾＾）

Today I went to Tuileries Garden with my good friend N and her baby. N and I moved to Paris around the same time (about a week difference) and she married a French man too so I often ask for her advice relating to visa and about being in an international relationship.

Tuileries Garden is a huge park located between Place de la Concorde (where Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were executed) and Louvre museum. There aren't many parks in Paris where you can sit on the grass so the grassy area near Palais Royal is a rare spot. Enjoying the massiveness of the Palais Royal while having a picnic. How luxurious! We had a great time eating N's rice balls and drinking wine :)

ドラゴンクエスト５ Dragon Quest 5

良くびっくりされるのが私が実はビデオゲームが大好きなこと・・・何故か周りからはゲームなんて興味ないと思われるのですが、自分でプレイするのも大好きだし、人がプレイするところを見るのも好き！ゲーセンに行くと本気ではしゃぎます！マリオ、鉄拳、ハウスオブザデッド等のアクションゲームも好きですが、最もはまるのがＲＰＧ（ロール・プレイング・ゲーム）。その中で最も好きなのがドラゴンクエストとファイナルファンタジー。

そして最近、またドラゴンクエスト５をDSでプレイし始めました。同じゲームをまた開始するのは私が最初にプレイしたドラクエ５はPS2で、主人公は姉御肌の幼馴染または裕福だけど献身的なお嬢様のどちらかをお嫁さんとして選ぶことができます。しかし、DS版では三人目のお嫁さん候補がいます・・・それはお嬢様の派手で自己中心的なお姉さん！私は幼馴染とお嬢さんを一回づつお嫁さんとしてもらったので、今回はこのお姉さんをお嫁にしたく、またプレイしています（＾＾）ネットで調べると多くのプレイヤーは彼女の戦闘力と態度がネックとなって避けているみたいですが、私は彼女の毒舌な一言一言がツボにはまって楽しくプレイしています。

What surprises people is that I really love playing video games... For some reason people around me think that I'm not interested at all in games but I love playing and even watching others play! When I go to arcades, I get seriously excited! I love action games like Mario, Tekken, House of the Dead, etc but what I'm most into are RPGs (Role-Playing Game). And out of the RPGs, I am crazy about the Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy series.

I recently started to play Dragon Quest 5 again on DS. I am playing the same game again because the first time I played it was on PS2, and the main character can choose his bride between an older girl that he grew up with who leads the way or a rich but devoted girl. However the DS version has a 3rd selection for the wife. It's the rich girl's flashy and egocentric older sister! I've already chosen both the girl the main character grew up with and the rich girl so I started to play again to chose the sister this time :) When I checked online, it seems a lot of players avoid the sister because of her fighting capabilities and her attitude but I just can't get enough of her sharp tongue and I am currently playing happily.
